The developer profession in 2035: What disappears, what endures
Every wave of technology has predicted the death of the developer, and every time the profession has grown instead, with different work inside it. This time the change runs deeper: it isn’t the tools being swapped out, it’s the raw material. Something really does disappear, something endures, and something is worth more than it has ever been.

From code to intent: When the specification becomes the source code
We are in the middle of a shift the industry has been through before without noticing: the source code, the ‘truth’ about what a system does, is moving one level of abstraction up. When the code can be regenerated from the description, the description is the work. The open question is whether an industry that has never had to write precisely can learn to now.

Hybrid teams: Leading people and agents together
Your team already has new members. They just aren’t in the org chart: agents that upgrade, fix, review and propose, around the clock. The management literature has no chapter on them, and the old instincts miss in both directions. We treat them as tools when they need boundaries, and as colleagues when they need control.

The junior crisis: Where will the seniors of 2035 come from?
The industry has started sawing off the branch it sits on: the simple, repeatable work juniors have always learned from is exactly what gets automated first. Fewer juniors are hired, and the ones who are get to skip the learning. The arithmetic doesn’t work. Today’s seniors were made by work that no longer exists.
